Misano Adriatico, September 14, 2019. AGV presents the special adornment for the Octo San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix. Valentino Rossi reveals a Men Misano version of the Pista GP R that celebrates the traditions of his region. Franco Morbidelli s helmet pays tribute to former professional rider Gianni Rolando.
Valentino Rossi s local Grand Prix has always been a chance for him to show off brand-new colors and graphics, and as a rule, designed together with his friend, the artist Aldo Drudi. For 2019, the Doctor is racing wearing an AGV Pista GP R with graphics that celebrate both the event in Misano and local Romagnan tradition.
The cuisine of Romagna takes a brand-new star turn, featured on Valentino s helmet through two symbols that have always made an appearance on the Doctor s gear: the sun in the form of the local piadina flatbread and the moon in the guise of a white, red and green slice of watermelon. The fun, carefree Men di Misano theme is a great fit for Valentino s personality and is interpreted masterfully here through attention-grabbing images as effective off the track as they are on it. The helmet again includes classic Valentino iconography, like his dogs and cat in the role of fan club.
Italo-Brazilian rider Franco Morbidelli pays homage to Piedmontese Gianni Rolando. The 500-class professional rider from the 1970s and 1980s has been, above all, a friend of Franco s from the start of his career. Morbidelli will race with a white and red helmet that reproduces the one that Rolando wore in his day, marked by clean, old-style graphics that are bound to make an impact. This is Aldo Drudi at work again, updating the colors of the AGV Pista GP R livery and using modern details. The Italian and Brazilian flags stand out on the top of the shell, as does the number 21 at the back. Rolando himself will auction Franco s helmet, and the proceeds will go to the IOR (Romagnan Oncological Institute).
The perfect blend of protection, performance and comfort, the Pista GP R results from an innovative integrated design protocol that revolutionizes the design method and allows a combination of superior impact protection, the exclusive Ultravision AGVwhich guarantees a visual field of 190 horizontally and 85 vertically and cutting-edge design for extreme performance, developed in the wind tunnel for unrivaled aerodynamic efficiency. This process raises the bar in helmet research and development technology and represents a milestone in head protection systems.
