With more builders, manufacturers, and riders asking for full internal routing of cables and brake lines, Chris King has released two AeroSet (Patent Pending) headsets to bring this option to a much wider array of frames. AeroSet 1 fits headtubes with IS52/IS52 upper and lower and 45 x45 bearing sizes. AeroSet 2 is the same but with a lower bearing spec of 36×45 degree.
The new AeroSets feature King s GripLock technology, which protects a fork s steerer tube from excessive preload and protects the headset bearings from excessive shock load while riding. The system uses two isolated wedges to isolate headset bearing adjustment from the steerer tube location. GripLock solves the problem of loose headsets on long-travel mountain bikes and also eliminates the chance of headset-inflicted fatigue on the lightweight carbon steerer tubes found on modern road forks.
Chris King Sales Manager Greg Hudson says, The AeroSet brings King s whole history of innovation in headsets, like superior bearings and our GripLock system, to the industry s most cutting-edge bikes. AeroSet makes servicing internally routed frames easier, while simultaneously cutting down on the amount of service and periodic adjustment riders need to make with conventional headsets. I think a lot of folks believe internal routing will make servicing their bike more challenging, but with AeroSet we ve worked to minimize that challenge, with the added benefits that come with all Chris King headsets.
AeroSet 1 and 2 are integrated headsets, similar to King s DropSet series, which have been in the market for years. The new headsets are available for both the ENVE In Route and FSA ACR internal routing systems. They share the AeroSet 3 bearing cap that was launched in 2022 which uses 44mm press-in cups found on many custom framebuilder bikes, AeroSet 1 and 2 fit bikes from ENVE, Argonaut, Baum, Time, and more.
AeroSet 1 and 2 are available to order soon in the full array of King s 2024 colors.
